Great Weekend

I had a great weekend! We were super busy - but all was enjoyable.

On Friday, I hosted a bridal shower for my coworker. She racked up pretty good for a "work" shower - good job ladies at the office. That night Jeff and I watched the second to last disc in the Rome series.

Saturday morning we woke up pretty early. Jeff drove me downtown and dropped me off at the Alamodome to meet up with some coworkers for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event. There were over 30,000 people in attendance. I took some photos that I will try to post soon! Afterwards, after a brief afternoon nap on my part, and some additional painting in the hallway by Jeff, my parents came over for dinner for my Dad's birthday! We had a great time and my first dinner party at our new house was a success! We headed out to attend a Rampage (hockey) game later that night. I hadn't been to one in several years - and we had a great time! They even won!

This morning, Jeff and I went out to run our usual errands (i.e. grocery store) and we came back to the house and did yard work. The yard looks great now! First time we mowed it since we've been here. I'll brag and say that our yard is the best looking on the block - at least this week! We finished the last disc of Rome (great series!) and now we're currenty watching the premiere of Season 2 of The Tudors.

Hope everyone's weekend was fantastic as well!

Easter Weekend Cometh

Wow - is it Easter time already?! Where has the time gone. I felt like it was just yesterday that I was trying to think of what to give up for Lent. Alas, I failed miserably! ha! Per my usual.

Jeff and I are headed to Houston this weekend. Of course, we'll have to stop at the bank on the way out of town to take out a loan to afford gas (Currently $3.19/gallon)! I swear - if it goes up anymore we are going to start to carpool. Jeff doesn't know that yet. :D

I'm excited to see my two neices this weekend. Elise is almost four months and we haven't seen her since January! Babies change so fast it will be intersting to see what she looks like now. I've been hearing the word "chubb" float around.

And to put a cherry on top of everything, I have Friday off. Of couse it will be spent down at Bexar County trying to remedy the ticket that I got a few weeks past. Oh well....it's my own fault.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Easter weekend spent with loved ones!

Ter-get

I'm never grocery shopping at Target again. Don't get me wrong, I love Target for clothes, household items, cards and wrapping paper. But I will NOT ever buy more than 1 grocery item there. They are ridiculously expensive and have a very limited selection. Today I was looking for convenience and the red bulls-eye logo lured me into it's doors (plus the fact that I needed some new workout capris), but nevermind that part.

Flu

Jeff's got it. I don't want it. Let's hope this is the junk I had a few weeks ago. He went to the doctor this morning for an official diagnosis. A few more days of "pampering" on my part and he should be good as new :) - ha! Like I pamper. Poor Jeff, this is when he wishes he married a more sympathetic woman. I think he's going to pass on this weekend's camping adventure and catch up on some much needed sleep. I'm going to head up to the SP on Saturday morning to catch up with my cousins and hopefully when I return on Sunday he'll be feeling better. Trust me, having me out of his hair will probably be more healing than you think! ha!

Domestic Dispute

I witnessed an interesting domestic dispute in the parking lot of Academy this afternoon. A boy, no older than 13 years old must of, I assume, said something to severly piss off his mother. So they (the mother, the son and a little girl, 8ish) come storming out of Academy along side of me. The mother shouting, "You better not talk like that! You better not talk like that to me!", at the top of her lungs. The kid mumbled something back, but I distinctly remember hearing the F-word. My mouth dropped at this. No way. I would of been slapped if I EVER said that word to my mother. But wait there's more...

...after more screaming by the mother, the son called her a bitch! WHAT?!?! If the other word wouldn't of had me slapped back to 1982, this one definitely would of. The mother than proceeded to pick up her purse and scream to him,"Do you want to see a bitch!??! Do YOU!!?!? I'll SHOW YOU A BITCH!!! My husband doesn't even call me that!!!!" As soon as the purse rose above her head, you better believe that kid got scared (finally) and peddled backwards, almost closing in on me.

This my friends is another fine lesson in why birth control is important. Cue the "The More You Know" song from NBC.

Painting

I've posted a few pics of the paint job (still in progress) that we are currently working on. We're almost done with the dining room (joints and touch ups need to be done) and we've worked the darker taupe into the hallway. We still need to take it into the living room and the kitchen. Check out my Flickr site for pics.

A New Site

I've started another blog - but for another purpose in my life.

This site will remain my number one - with all updates primarily here. Just check out the other site and you'll see.

We totally forgot..

...about daylight savings time! argh! Jeff and I planned out our day already - specifically to avoid the church crowd at H-E-B - then we realized it was an hour later than usual! Damnit!

Tomorrow is a new day for us both. We've both been slacking on the diet. But not anymore - I still have some weight to lose before summer gets here. Plus we are going to a wedding in about a month so I want to wear a cute dress I bought about three months ago. We're going to head to Costco and H-E-B later on to get all healthy food for the house and I'm going to plan out my week so that I don't go over my points. Plus, my goal this week is to exercise 3 times and do situps every night.

I can DO THIS! I just need to repeat my mantra, " Think skinny, think skinny, think skinny!"

Bitches & Moans

I have a short rope when it comes to patience, but this past week has been exceptionally trying.

To start, I wanted to make some kolaches for the people at work. Not just any kolache, poppyseed kolaches - the best kind! After searching H-E-B for at least 10 minutes (hey, that's a long time) I asked an employee where they had the poppyseed filling. He went to check and guess what? They STOPPED selling it. I KNOW! I even had Jeff check another H-E-B, but same results. Argh! You know H-E-B? You're going to have a lot of pissed off Czechs on your door step and I know at least 20+ people (family) that will back me on this one.

Then today....

Sometimes I'm "okay" with San Antonio, but other times, other times I'm ready to pack up the dog, cats and Jeff and take the next train to whocares where....today was one of those "other times". First off, I'm so fortunate to have been born to the family I was born too. I can not imagine being a stupid imbesile amongst the throngs of other idiots that live day-to-day-to-day without purpose. People in this town are idiotic, rude, materialistic and dumb. I can see why some people become hermits - I'm considering it myself.

I wanted to go to a home store that opened a few week ago here in town to see if I could get some decor for the dining room. I think about 80% of San Antonio had the same idea. It had to be the most packed store I've been in outside of Christmas. I guess the "Grand Opening" is still going on (weeks later). Parking was a bitch and the foot traffic towards the store felt like a herd of cattle coming in for hay. Even before I entered the store I was irritated. When I walked in, I knew I was going to be disappointed. This was one of those homestores that is just "stuff" - you know what I'm talking about. Trinkets upon trinkets of CRAP to fill your house up with. Why do people buy this crap?? Why??? Why put a boat oar in your house or half of a boat for your nautical themed room (gag)? And, by the way, we have 18 other items in the same theme so you can buy the whole set and create an ridiculously themed room - Yeah! what fun!

Puhlease. I was out within 5 minutes (1/2 the time spent fighting customers to get to the door). I mean come on! What ever happened to simplicity??

Anyway, these are my moans for the day. Sorry I'm not more optimistic right now. I'm in the midst of painting. The dining room is turning out great and I made my way into the hallway this afternoon. I'll post pics as soon as I'm through - I promise.

Reality Check

I've been doing AWFUL on my diet. Not that I'm out there eating crap all day, but there is the occasional (I'm not going to lie).

As far as the T.V. thing goes - again, I reiterate, I think I'm watching more junk then I was before I made my new year's resolution.

I'm disappointed in myself. It's time to refocus. I must lose weight - it's imperative. Enough excuses!!

Tomorrow is a new day.

p.s. Counting Crows is coming out with a new album on March 25, 2008. Suhweetness!
