As You Wish....

In recent discussions with someone 6 years my junior, I realized something astonishing. A generation gap. Especially when it came to movies. Due to a cup of coffee around 10 pm (I know) I found my self discussing these movies aloud. In retrospect, I must have sounded like a loon. I talked about Dracs who were half-man, half-woman and were able to self reproduce. A video game obsessed teen called called to save the galaxy. The infamous Jack Burton and his battle with Lopan. Conan and his band of misft sidekicks. All these movies were special to me at somepoint in my childhood. I think my parents partially insane for letting us watch half of this crap, but now I consider these movies dear to me. Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks these movies are undeniably the best ever? I've made a list of some of the great movies (that stir great memories) of the 80's and perhaps early 90's.

The Princess Bride - The Last Starfighter - Big Trouble in Little China (forever will remind me of my brother) - Legend - The Goonies - Romancing the Stone - Jewel of the Nile - Conan the Destroyer - Conan the Barbarian - Enemy Mine - Labyrinth - The Dark Crystal - Willow - The Ghostbusters - Poochie: the movie - Masters of the Universe - Short Circuit - Return to Oz - Pete's Dragon - Troop Beverly Hills - Three Men and a Baby - The Witches - The Neverending Story - The Beastmaster - Krull - Predator - Mad Max beyond Thunderdome - Dirty Dancing - Top Gun - Ladyhawke - Innerspace - Overboard - The Great Outdoors - Uncle Buck - Summer Rental - National Lampoons Christmas Vacation - The Money Pit - Captain Ron - Stand by Me - Ferris Bueller's Day Off

I could go on forever, but these are just a few. I could cry at some of the memories I associate these movies too. Great times, good people.

I would love to hear anyones favorites that might be on this list or that should be added.

Job Update

Well, as many of you know I had a job interview several weeks ago. After a few weeks of waiting I finally heard back from them today. Unfortunately (don't you just love that word), they have decided to postpone filling the position. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. I really like the company and the team that interviewed with. Maybe they'll rethink things, but this time I'm not holding my breath (or at least not until I turn blue like last time).

Job hunting is very stressful and is enough to drive the sanest person mad. But, if I'm being honest, I still don't regret my decision to leave my previous company. Money issues aside, I'm feeling good about myself and my stress level has definitely decreased - all goals that I was trying to meet.

In other news, two of my friends took of today for adventures in Europe. Carilee and Ellen are London bound and I can't wait for their first email update!

Until next time....

Occupying my time

You know what I hate? I hate when you write a blog that's taken close to 10 minutes to type and you go to spell check the damn thing, and BAM! For some reason, unknown to me, the damn page refreshes itself and all your work is gone. I want to scream...or cry. Maybe I'll do both.

Yesterday I started my travel writing class online. My first assignment is to write about a 50 to 300 character description on your favorite place on the planet. What if I haven't found my favorite place yet?!?! I mean, this is pressure. I'm seriously going to have to give this some thought. Though, I'm sure that's the basis of this class... haha! Anyway, I can't use words like "beautiful, great, very, good, indescribable", and many more descriptive words because this is teaching me to be "descriptive".... Talk about challenging. Anyway, I'll post the assignment once I've finished it and let ya'll be my critics, if you so choose to take on the challenge. I'll have 2 assignments over the next 6 weeks. So keep posted, and let's hope that I keep this blog updated.

Really, if it weren't for dial up, I'd have a posting every day!!

'til next time. Keep it real.

I'm not ignoring you...

...I just haven't had a lot of time on my hands.

Not to mention, I'm on dial up these days. I know, you're telling me.

New post hopefully soon! Keep checking back!

Until then, happy days to all!
