"Lucy! You got some 'splainin' to do!"

Okay, so there are many mysteries in this life, but today there is one in particular that is on my mind.

Why do people feel that it is okay to call me "honey" or "darling" or "baby" or "sweetheart"? or any other irritating endearment?

First off, I'm not YOUR baby. Or your honey, darling, etc. So stop it please. For one it creeps me out. Another thing is that there is only ONE person in this world that can call me that and sometimes he even annoys me when he calls me some sappy, cornball endearment. Though, 99% of the time he just says it because he has a twisted sense of humor...at least when it comes to irritating me :D. haha!

I had originally thought that the culprits were only men. But then I heard from "Sue" (disclosure: the names in this passage have been changed from their original to protect the privacy of the subject matter). Sue finds it necessary in our two phrase conversations to throw in, at minimum, three endearments. "Hi honey is (insert name here) there?" ... "Yes, let me get her for you,"I reply. "Thanks darling. You're a doll." It's become a game to see how fast I can put her on hold before she can get out the last one. She's up 7-1.

I've thought about saying to them all, "HEY! You, jerk. Enough already with the endearments. You're creeping me out." But then I play the scenario out in my head which always includes "making a huge scene" and that's not worth it. So instead, I blog about it :) .. and I feel better already.

An Open Letter

So, it's been a few days since my last posting. Since then I have deleted many entries and put a Flickr badge on the site (see bottom of my sidebar). I even added an RSS link for those of you who know what that is (trust me, I just found out 2 days ago).

Also, I re-discovered an old website favorite: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/links/openletters/
It renews my faith in today's humor.... Let me know your thoughts.

This past weekend was rather peaceful. I spent Saturday doing virtually nothing, well nothing EXCITING that is to say. On Sunday I headed over to my bro's house and he schooled me in web design. Actually, I probably know 1/1,000,000th more than I knew before considering there is so MUCH to learn. I have to say I had a really good time learning the basics and SO MANY things became clear. I'm afraid to admit how "out of the loop" I was. But my friends, I'm changing all of that.

In fact, 2006 is ALL ABOUT CHANGE. For instance, I got rid of the bad land lord, I'm paying off all my debts, I finally said goodbye to the belly button ring I've had for 8 years (I know!) and I quit my job. This week I'm going to shell out a substantial amount of cash for a "cool" haircut and a new color...I'm not sure what direction I plan to go, but whatever it is, I'll post it later.

Until next time my friends.

The weekend in review

As stated in my Friday blog, Jeff and I went to Houston this weekend to visit family and friends. We had a great time and got to spend some quality time with the family, our niece Clara and my friend Michelle's new baby, Taylor. I'm posting some pics for your enjoyment!

Lauren & Clara

I call this picture "EARS" (enough said)

This is baby Taylor :D

And her proud Mom, Michelle.

I have to say, it's surreal seeing one of your best friends with a child. And Michelle, with a girl, surrounded by pinks and purples is an even stranger sight to witness! But she and Tom are most definitely ecstatic (and tired might I add) and I am so happy for them both!

Until my next entry, my friends.

SUPER SARAH!

For my friend/cousin, Sarah :D ... "SUPER SARAH!"

Also, these are my graphic design skills as of today. I know! They are AWESOME! You think this is great? Just give me a few more months, I will blow you away with my skills!!

Hot Damn!

YES!! It's Friday!!!!

And it's been a long time in comin', if I do say so myself. Is it just me or did this week seem to draaaaaaag? Maybe it's because this is the first full week I've had in the past month or so.
Last Monday we returned from our annual ski trip, this time to Durango, CO. All in all, I had a great time sans the 18 hour car ride up there and the 15 hour return trip (maybe I'm called to design more comfortable car seats). My "ski skills", or whatever the appropriate phrase is for that, have greatly improved since the last trip. I still may be a bit slow (I like to say cautious) but I've finally got the hang of turning (Amen!) and I'm not AS scared of falling as I have been in the past. Anyway, I thought I'd post a few pics for ya'll to check out. There are still a few pics out there I need to grab, but I'll repost later!

I wish I was able to put some sort of caption on this, but I'm having some issues. I'll figure it out later and repost (I think that's my next fav word...haha!).

Well my friends, I hope you have an enjoyable Friday and a great weekend! Jeff & I are headed to Houston to visit family and friends (and Michelle's new baby, Taylor :) <--I'll post pics soon).

Feel free to leave comments!
